Popsicle Recipes: Healthy Ideas for Kids
Popsicle recipes are the new summer trend for both young and old. After all, who doesn’t enjoy a little refreshing treat that tastes delicious in warm weather? And since we don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen at 30 degrees Celsius, we’ve put together some quick and easy popsicle recipe ideas for kids.
Tips for homemade popsicles – for babies and toddlers
Whether strawberry, banana, or mango: basically, you can use all your favorite fruits as ingredients for our popsicle recipes and make a fine puree. If you make popsicles from pure fruit puree, babies and toddlers can already enjoy them. A great side effect: the cool fruit ice also helps soothe sore gums when your baby is teething.
If you want the popsicles to be a bit creamier, you can also add coconut milk or natural yogurt. But be careful: babies and toddlers should not consume more than about 200 ml of cow’s milk products per day.
The best molds for making popsicles yourself
One utensil you shouldn’t miss for our popsicle recipes is a suitable ice mold. These come in a variety of shapes, materials, and colors. Just browse the internet to find one. If you don’t want to buy a mold, you can create wonderful upcycled popsicle molds from old yogurt cups. Simply fill the fruit puree into the clean cup and insert a plastic spoon or wooden stick. The stick will freeze in at an angle, but who cares? The main thing is that the popsicle tastes delicious.

We at the howa team are true ice cream lovers and have written down our favorite homemade ice cream creations for you. Here are our top 3 popsicle recipes:
Make strawberry-mango popsicles yourself
Our first recipe is a delicious mix of strawberry and mango. Here’s what you need:
- Ice mold for 6 popsicles (50 ml per portion)
- 1 ripe mango
- 200 g strawberries
Here’s how to do it:
1. First, wash the strawberries thoroughly. The little ones can help wonderfully with this task. Then puree the fruit.
2. Next, it’s the mango’s turn. Cut the fruit into small pieces and puree everything.
3. Then alternate spoonfuls of the fruit purees into the ice mold. This creates a fun color-changing effect. Now just insert the sticks into the mold, close it well, and place it in the freezer overnight.
4. Having trouble getting the popsicles out of the molds? Our tip: briefly dip the mold in hot water. Then the popsicles should come out more easily.
Kiba popsicles
Want a creamier version? Then we recommend Kiba popsicles, a mix of cherry nectar and banana. The little ones can help make them. Here’s what you need:
- Ice mold for 6 popsicles
- 1 banana
- 100 ml cherry nectar
- 75 g vanilla yogurt
Here’s how to do it:
1. First, fill the molds one-third full with cherry nectar. Once done, close the mold and carefully place it in the freezer. Wait until the nectar is partially frozen.
2. Meanwhile, peel the banana and cut it into small pieces. Then add the yogurt and puree everything.
3. Once the cherry nectar is partially frozen, fill the molds with the banana mixture. Close everything again and place it in the freezer for about an hour. Voilà: the Kiba popsicles are ready!
Kiwi sorbet popsicles
Kiwi is the wonder ingredient for our popsicle recipes. Why? Simply because the fruit has so much natural flavor that it hardly needs any other ingredients. Our tip: use a slightly wider ice mold for this recipe and line it with kiwi slices. It creates a great look! Here’s what you need for the kiwi sorbet:
- Ice mold for 6 popsicles
- 6 kiwis
- ¾ lime

Here’s how to do it:
1. First, peel the kiwis and squeeze the lime. Cut one kiwi into thin slices. Puree the remaining kiwis and the lime juice.
2. Now line the ice molds with the kiwi slices. The little ones can help with this again. Then pour in the fruit puree, press the sticks into the mixture, and place everything in the freezer for about 3 hours. The delicious kiwi sorbet popsicles are ready.
