The homemade carnival costume for children can be made easily at home:

Do It Yourself Instructions: Indian Costume for Children

For crafting the DIY costume, you will need the following materials:
  • a white, slightly larger T-shirt
  • tights
  • feathers
  • colorful beads
  • plain cardboard
  • colored pencils
  • scissors
  • super glue
And now, let the crafting fun for the DIY costume begin:
  1. Start by giving the T-shirt a fringed look. To do this, cut the bottom hem of the shirt into a V-shape. Then, cut 1 cm wide fringes on the sleeves with the scissors. Repeat this step on the lower part of the shirt, working from bottom to top, about up to the waist level.
  2. As decoration, attach the colorful beads to the freshly cut fringes. These can be threaded onto the cut fabric strands as you like and fixed with super glue.
  3. The next step in making the homemade carnival costume for children is the feather decoration. For this, you need a piece of plain cardboard that is 3 cm wide and long enough to fit around the child’s head.
  4. Then paint the cardboard with colorful pencils. Anything goes here: zigzag lines, triangles, circles, squares, or just simple strokes.
  5. Finally, glue the ends of the cardboard together with super glue and attach the feathers all around the edge.
The DIY costume is ready. The tights complete the homemade costume for children. In cold weather, it is advisable to wear a long top under the Indian costume.
