Funny Carnival Games: Mom and Child Celebrate Carnival

Helau and Alaaf: Carnival is just around the corner! Children especially love Carnival. Now the little ones have the chance to slip into new roles again. With the right costume, the kids quickly become cowboys or spooky witches. Role-playing games are not only fun but can also contribute to social skills. For mom and dad, it’s a great reason to throw a little Carnival party. Whether it takes place with friends or family doesn’t matter. Donuts, streamers, and lots of confetti quickly turn your home into a Carnival fortress. But to really get the party going, the right Carnival games must not be missing. We’ve put together some creative ideas.

Party Mood with the Balloon Dance

A party without dancing? Not with us! The balloon dance brings lots of energy to any Carnival party. Two children form a team, with a blown-up balloon held between them. The top rule: the kids must not touch the balloon with their hands. If both children keep their hands behind their backs, cheating is almost impossible. Now all that’s missing is the right music, and the balloon dance can begin! The challenge is to keep the balloon from falling while dancing. The team that holds the balloon the longest wins.

The Classic Carnival Game: Musical Chairs

Is there plenty of space? Then parents can’t avoid this Carnival classic. First, chairs are arranged in a circle. Important: there must always be one fewer chair than the number of children playing. When the music stops, everyone must find a seat. Whoever doesn’t find one is out. Our tip: to get the Carnival spirit going, mom and dad can lead the group in a conga line around the chairs.

Watch Out: The Ticking Party Bomb is Going Around!

Looking for Carnival games with guaranteed fun? Then we want to introduce the party bomb. All parents need is a shoebox and a timer. Set the timer to three minutes and place it inside the box. Now the game begins! The package is passed from player to player. Each child can take as much time as they want. The closer the timer gets to zero, the more exciting it becomes. The one holding the party bomb when it goes off loses. The others continue until only the winner remains.

Face Painting and Crafts for the Carnival Party

Looking for calmer Carnival games? Then we recommend cozy crafting and face painting activities. There are plenty of masks and designs online that parents can use as guides for face painting. Alternatively, the kids can paint each other. Parents should use tested children’s face paint that is gentle on sensitive skin. The same applies to crafting: the internet is full of creative ideas and instructions. Maybe the kids can make their own mask or a funny hat?

Ready, Set, Clothing Relay Race!

The relay race is also a classic Carnival game. One version that fits Carnival especially well is the clothing relay race. Here, dressing up happens in fast-forward. There are two teams and a table full of clothes. These can be funny Carnival outfits or parents can raid the home wardrobe. A big skirt, hat, and scarf work just as well. Two children compete against each other. They must first put on the designated clothes and then run, crawl, or hop a set distance. The team that finishes the relay race first wins.
